„Der Blaue Reiter“ – kurzer Ausritt mit weitreichenden Folgen Das 1912 erschienene illustrierte Jahrbuch „Der Blaue Reiter“ gilt als eines der wichtigsten Manifeste der modernen Kunst in Europa. In ihm formulierten der russische Emigrant Wassily Kandinsky, sein Freund Franz Marc und andere assoziierte Kunstler ihre Vorstellungen von einer neuen Kunst, die das traditionelle Formenrepertoire sprengen und den Blick von der au?eren Realitat auf die innere richten sollte. Auch wenn sie sich dabei auf ahnliche Vorbilder wie die Maler der Kunstlergruppe Die Brucke beriefen, auf die Fauvisten etwa und die sogenannte primitive Kunst, strebten sie anders als diese nicht einen einheitlichen neuen Stil an. Der Blaue Reiter fungierte als loser Verbund, in dem eine Vielzahl ganzlich eigenstandiger Entwicklungen moglich war. Der Blaue Reiter wurde durch den Ausbruch des Ersten Weltkriegs, in dem zwei seiner fuhrenden Kunstler fielen, aber auch durch wachsende Unstimmigkeiten zwischen den Protagonisten der Gruppe unvermittelt zu Grabe getragen. Duchting Hajo Cezanne
Perhaps best known for his exceptional apples and pears, Paul Cezanne (1839-1906) was one of the founding fathers of modern art. Though he was underappreciated and highly criticized during his life, as time passed Cezanne's work came to be considered of inestimable importance. His method of experimentation with abstraction and perspective was an important precursor to modern painting, particularly cubism. About the author: Hajo Duchting (b. 1949 in Dusseldorf) studied art history, philosophy and archaeology in Munich, where he gained his doctorate in 1981 with a thesis on Robert Delaunay's Windows series. After working in museum and adult education, he moved on to teaching posts and guest professorships at the universities of Munich, Kassel, Leipzig, Saarbrucken and Mainz. Since 2004 he has taught painting and colour theory at the Mediadesign Akademie in Munich.
